The internationally award winning Alpine A110 has received another accolade, recognised as a prestigious Good Design Award Winner in the Product Design category in recognition of outstanding design and innovation.
The Good Design Award is the latest in a host of top international awards for the Alpine A110 which include several Car of the Year awards from peak publications such as Top Gear, MotorSport Magazine, Evo Magazine and L’Automobile Magazine.
The winners of Australia's peak industry design awards – the highest honour for design and innovation in the country, were announced at the 61st annual Good Design Awards Ceremony.
The Alpine A110 received the award for Exterior Design in the Product Design – Automotive and Transport category.
The Good Design Awards Jury praised Alpine A110 commenting: “This is a smart and stylish sportscar that not only pays homage to Alpine's history, but delivers in terms of performance and design. Clever use of materials minimise weight, which in turn aids performance and fuel consumption. It's a beautiful looking machine, yet uncompromising in its ability to deliver a true sports car experience. Inside, the use of materials continues the design-led theme form the exterior.”
The annual Good Design Awards is Australia’s most prestigious international Awards for design and innovation with a proud history dating back to 1958. The Awards celebrate the best new products and services on the Australian market, excellence in architectural design, engineering, fashion, digital and communication design and reward emerging areas of design strategy, social impact and design entrepreneurship.
Alpine Australia was proud to accept the award.
“This Good Design Award is yet further proof that the designers of the Alpine A110 achieved the challenge of designing a car that boasted modern technology and expertise while remaining true to the car’s unique and loved heritage,” Anouk Poelmann, Renault Australia Managing Director said.
“The Alpine A110 is a true design of French-style and elegance which above all places emphasis on agile performance and driving enjoyment without compromising every day comfort,” Poelmann continued.
Brighton Alpine Principal Mark Avis said: “The Alpine A110 is a chic and lightweight classic, which is refreshingly different and has truly embraced the heritage of the original A110 Berlinette without compromising on modern design elements or driving pleasure.”
“It is incredibly exciting for the entire team here at Brighton Alpine to see the reaction of customers when they first see the Alpine A110, but even more so once they have had the experience of driving this unique sports coupe,” Avis continued.
The Good Design Awards Jury spent several days evaluating each entry according to a strict set of design criteria which covers ‘good design’, ‘design innovation’ and ‘design impact’. Projects recognised with a Good Design Award must demonstrate excellence in all areas and convince the Jury they are worthy of recognition.
Dr. Brandon Gien, CEO of Good Design Australia said: “Receiving a Good Design Award at this level is a significant achievement given the very high calibre of entries received this year.”
“Australia’s Good Design Award is more than a symbol of design excellence, it represents the hard work and dedication towards an innovative outcome that will ultimately improve our quality of life. These projects showcase the brilliance of design and the potential it has to improve our world,” said Dr. Gien.
The Good Design Awards attached a record number of submissions with close to 700 design projects evaluated in this year’s international design awards.
